As many of you may know, Amendment 3 will be on the November 3rd ballot. It is being presented as a way of increasing the Homestead exemption over the next two years. However, the Bill but does not speak to how the variety of services provided by County and City governments will be funded if approved. The reality is these services will be substantially cut, and libraries will be a service directly impacted, among many other crucial services.
Our meeting will be to educate us all about the full implications of this Amendment, so that not only will we be knowledgeable, but we will be able to answer questions from customers in the bookstore, as well as other people in the community. We will have lots of information to share with you at the meeting. Also, we will be looking for volunteers to staff tables in front of the library to share information during early voting.
Refreshments will be served. It will be great to see everyone and talk about this incredibly important issue. We hope everyone who is in town will be able to come.

We begin by walking through Kochi, a legendary cradle of the global spice trade, and finish in an ethereal world where coral islands are scattered like pearls across the vast Indian Ocean. Fall Classical Concert Series: Woven by Chance
Due to a last-minute program change, we are turning the traditional concert experience upside down with the help of brilliant guest Natalie Helm, principal cellist of the Sarasota Orchestra. With no prior rehearsal, we are letting you, the audience, pull the choices straight out of a hat! Woven will explore the tight-knit relationship between musicians and the music they create. Join us for a completely unscripted hour, and take a peek behind the curtain. No registration required.

History at Venice Library: Venice Connection to 9/11
To start the 2026-2027 lecture series, Bob Mudge, senior writer for the Venice Gondolier, will talk about his experiences with Rudi Dekkers pre- and post-9/11; how it felt to see the tragedy of that day unfold and then learn about the Venice Connection; and subsequent events involving Rudi Dekkers.
Brain Health and Memory
Learn about the importance of brain health and memory and how to protect your brain as you age. Danielle Valery is the Program Manager at the Memory Disorder Clinic at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Registration required.
