Venice Yacht Club Board Presents $5,000 Grant to FOVL

On July 10, the board members of the Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to the Friends of Venice Library (FOVL). In this photo, Janet Knudsen, FOVL Board President (holding check), accepted the grant at the Venice Yacht Club. The Friends will use the funds to buy bird books for Venice Audubon's 2nd Grade Birdwatchers Program. The Friends enjoy funding each Sarasota County second-grade student with their copy of a Birds of Florida book, which the students get excited about owning.

Upon receiving the books for her second-grade class, Tracy Tuerk, of the Garden Elementary School in Venice, wrote in her thank-you note to the Friends, “We are so grateful for the books. How easy for the kids to find what they are looking for. Also, the information answers questions kids typically have. The books are a super resource for a research project and report!”
