The Journey of a Book Donation 📚

Every book has a story, and not just the one on its pages.

At the Friends of the Venice Library, many books begin their journey as gently used donations from our community. From there, they are carefully sorted and placed in the Friends Bookstore, where they’re discovered and purchased by fellow readers.

But the story doesn’t end there. Proceeds from those sales help fund programs, resources and services that make a real difference, like providing educational books to 2nd graders to accompany their field trips, gifting a book to every baby born at Sarasota Memorial Hospital to help foster a love of reading from the very beginning, and bringing world-class authors to Sarasota County through programs like Off the Page … and so much more.

This is how we all work together -- Friends and patrons -- to strengthen the library and our community.
