Summer Learning Program

Summer is here and so is our annual Summer Reading Challenge, which will end with the giveaway of a Nintendo Switch and Kindle. The Challenge runs from May 31 through August 15. The challenge’s theme Plant a Seed, Read encourages participants to explore new interests and grow their love of reading. Everyone who completes the challenge will earn a prize.

To complete the challenge, everyone has to read for 600 minutes (10 hours).

  • Youth (Newborn to 8 years) Complete the challenge to choose a prize or free book.

  • Tweens/Teens (Ages 9 to 18) Complete the challenge to be entered for a chance to win a Nintendo Switch and choose a book or other prize.

  • Adults (Ages 19 and older) Complete the challenge to be automatically entered to win a Nintendo Fire.

According to Renee Di Pilato, director of Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources, “We’re excited to offer a summer of meaningful experiences for our community. Whether you’re reading at home or attending a program, you’ll find many ways to take part.”

Additional programming includes hands-on art workshops through the Artists in the Libraries Series, live performances, educational presentations and family-friendly activities.

All programs are free and open to the public.
